Artist Statement or Description:
“I chose to create a carousel horse because of Western New York’s rich
heritage as a place where Allan Herschell and James Armitage transformed
their machine shop in North Tonawanda into a successful carousel company.
The side of the horse that faced out was called the ‘romance side’ – its
carving was quite intricate – the other side was relatively unadorned.
Rivendell, like a carousel, encourages children and adults to ‘grab the
brass ring.’” |
